Gettysburg Moonshine Co. was establised by Eric and Kayla Miner, along with her father John Clark. Kayla comes from a long line of shiners. Her great grandfather Lawrence Shawley learned from his dad and many generations before him. He made and sold high quality Rye Moonshine deep in the mountains of the Laurel Highlands. Lawrence’s Rye was sold to prominent community figures like lawyers, judges, and politicians. The money from moonshine helped the family survive tough times and buy the family farm in the early 1900’s.

Kayla’s father was also quite well known for his apple pie moonshine. It was the kind that went down smoothly and kept you warm on cold fall nights when sitting next to a fire. He was to be partners with us but passed away unexpectedly on January 19, 2022. We decided to keep going with the distillery in his honor. His memory, along with his apple pie recipe that you all get to enjoy, lives on every day at the Gettysburg Moonshine Company!

Now Kayla and Eric set out to keep the family tradition of shining alive. We use the same family recipe as our ancestors to make the finest Rye and Corn shine that we can. The very liquor in our jars is from many generations of Kayla’s family and the one that bought the family farm.
